Sunday June the 16th our association held a course with the well respected and talented jon mottram who is the English national kata coach and also ranked in the top 10 male kata athletes by the WKF this was a really good course well attended and the club had around 20 students that attended with the last of 3 sessions going through gojushi ho dai , well done to all members that attended and also to sensei patrizio our senior instructor of our organisation USKW and also to his club yoshikata karate club in swansea for holding a very good course , we also had 3 students that graded for dan grades (black belts) in front of 4 senior instructors , jon mottram 5th dan , patrizio camilla 5th dan rob green 4th dan and paul davies 3rd dan , this was a very hard gradeing that lasted almost 2 hours and we are very proud and pleased to say that the following students passed there gradeing , corry giles shodan 1st dan , geraint evens shodan 1st dan and jenny dowell nedan 2nd dan well done on a very hard a well deseved gradeing |

GREAT KATA COURSE " with English kata coach and European medalist JON MOTTRAM " Sunday June 16th sketty primary school , llwynmawr close , Swansea . SA2 9HL £10 for a single session or £15 if you would wish to attend 2 sessions this is another great chance to train with a great performer and coach , sensei Jon mottram is the best kata coach in the UK he is well known all over Europe for being a very good inspirational competitor and coach with modern ideas , training techniques , and a very good rappour with the individuals that he coaches , this is a great chance for all students to raise your confidence and self believe as Jon in my opinion is very good at this aliment of teaching so please do not be put of by the thought of not thinking this course is not for you there will be something for everybody to take away , we want to try and support this course as a club for 2 main reasons , 1 for all of the students as i know it will be very good for all that attend and 2 so we can keep having great opportunity's like this on our own door step , if you attend this course it will count as 3 training sessions towards the amount of sessions you will need to grade and also towards the end of June award for the student that has trained the most training times are below but please ask your instructor as to which session will be best for you . 10.30 - 11.30 children under the age of 10 up to green belt 12.00 - 1.30 students over 10 years , colored belts to brown belt 2.00 - 4.00 brown and black belts there will be a limited amount of students per session so please reserve your place ASAP |

sat June the 1st we made the long drive up to Glasgow for an overnight stay ready for this years British championships , with the change of arena to the emirates stadium all the squad of only 14 members were looking forward to a very big tournament , we came back with 7 medals , which was a great achievement by the time all squad members competed brilliantly with great performances from all Kata and kumite events results / Kata 1st / blue balm-forth British wheelchair Kata champion 1st / Cory Giles British - 10 yrs boys Kata champion 2nd / jimmy Webster wheelchair Kata silver medalist 2nd / Sean ball able body disability Kata silver medalist 3rd / Adam Webster wheelchair Kata bronze medalist 3rd / maddy Thomson wheelchair Kata bronze medalist 3rd / rob green male veteran Kata bronze medalist also competing was Aaliyah Wiley , Elise Williams , Amie green , Ollie Cornelius , harry Davies , Laurence Armstrong , Aleesha Ahmed , Grace Smith , Andrew Davies and Brett Thomson , Cory Giles winning his 2nd British tital and beating his silver medal from 2012 but this time winning all 5 rounds 3 - 0 also in kumite he was very unlucky losing 8 - 7 in the last 3 seconds of the fight in the 3 round of an event with 57 competitors and the fighter that beat him went on to win the British tital great day from him , jimmy Webster lost in the final of the wheelchair event to last years silver medalist blue unlucky to jimmy but a big congratulations to blue also Aaliyah Wiley went out in the quarter finals in the girls - 10 yrs kata event only losing by 1 flag in her best performance of the year for her so far also unlucky fighting the same for Elise and Aleesha in the same events both girls still low grade but performing high grade kata and only losing by a flag also goog fighting performances from both girls , Ollie also lost by 1 flag in the event that was won by Cory again he is only 7 yrs of age still a low grade performing empi kata which he only learnt the Wednesday before , in the under 12s girls Amie green performing a high grade kata kankudai doing it well and again losing by 1 flag Amie is still also a low grade so great performance again Harry Davies along with Laurence both in the under 12s boys kata harry getting to the quarter finals in his first British championships losing to the event winner also great effort in fighting drawing 2 - 2 and losing to a split flag result but great day for him also Laurence unlucky in kata going out in the 2nd round but continuing with the great development he his making and in fighting losing in the quarter finals because he injured his opponent to badly but what a turn around in kumite for him , also grace performing well in the able body disability event performing her graded kata along with Brett and Andrew Davies losing in the last 8 of the wheelchair kata event , well done all team members on a great weekend the club have now got a medal tally of 104 medals in 8 tournaments so far in 2013 with 4 welsh and 2 British titals well done to all the squad , next tournament July 7th central England open in Wolverhampton if you would like to go please ask for more information at your club .

saturday may 25th was the date of the next little samurai grading well done to all the little guys and girls that past , a special well done to adem , kessi , aysa and abdula who all past up to yellow belt 7th kyu , and all the rest of who , i think the standard is getting better well done to you all |
